periodontology
Anatomy, physiology and histology of soft and hard tissues surrounding the teeth; It is the science that investigates the diseases that occur in these tissues, provides the treatment of these diseases and the continuity of the health obtained as a result of the treatment.
In periodontological diseases, it is the disease of the gums and bones, which are the tissues surrounding the tooth. These diseases are not only due to genetic factors but also progress due to the increase in microbial dental plaque accumulated in and around the teeth, mostly in individuals with poor oral hygiene care.
The aim of treatment is to eliminate the factors that cause the progression of these diseases. While the lost tissues can be regained when early diagnosis and treatment is made, the progress of the treatment is stopped by removing the factor at advanced levels.
