Doktor Tuna Ağız ve Diş Sağlığı Polikliniği ("Doktor Tuna") is a dental practice in Caddebostan, in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul. Its founding dentist, Dt. Şahabettin Tuna, graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Marmara University and has since attended numerous courses, seminars and congresses in Turkey and abroad, focusing on implantology and aesthetic restorative dentistry. Alongside him, Uzm. Dt. Duygu Tuna also treats patients at the practice.
Every appointment starts with an examination and, where needed, a radiographic assessment. We do not begin any procedure until the treatment plan — and any alternatives — has been discussed with the patient. We consider it essential that patients understand why a treatment is recommended, how long it will take, and what may happen if it is left undone.
We use a digital panoramic X-ray unit and an intraoral scanner for measurements, and rely on digital smile design for aesthetic cases. We don't see these as showpieces but as tools that reduce the margin for error: when an implant's angle is planned from tomographic data, placement is guided by measurement rather than guesswork. Radiographic imaging is carried out only when clinically necessary, and always at the lowest reasonable dose.
We believe that not carrying out an unnecessary treatment is part of good clinical practice. For early-stage decay that has not yet cavitated, we favour monitoring and fluoride treatment over fillings. Gum care and regular check-ups take priority over restorative work.
Every instrument goes through disinfection, ultrasonic cleaning, pouching and steam autoclaving at 134 °C. Each pouch carries a sterilisation indicator and is opened beside the patient's chair just before use. Single-use items are discarded after every patient.
